As an individual, sometimes you get what you pay for and sometimes you don’t. The same can be said for taxpayers.

In some states, taxpayers get stellar services but pay a high price for them. Others don’t pay much, but they also get little in return. WalletHub, a research organization that focuses on public policy and financial issues, looked at the states to determine where residents receive the best services for the least money.

In "2016's States with the Best and Worst Taxpayer RIO," WalletHub looked at education, health, safety, the economy and infrastructure with each area divided into a number of categories and compared the results to the amount of taxes residents pay.

Following are the 10 states in reverse order with the best listed last where residents receive exceptional services for the least taxes and a reason each achieved the ranking.

No. 10: Nebraska

Nebraska residents have good hospitals and health care and a strong economy.
