The proportion of financial advisor assets invested in exchange-traded funds has risen this year, both in terms of assets allocated to ETFs in client portfolios and in the number of providers used by financial advisors. According to Cogent Reports, the proportion of advisor assets invested in ETFs grew in 2013 with an average allocation of 14%. That compares with 12% in 2012. And while 58% of ETF assets generally are invested with an advisor’s main provider, the growing trend is to spread those assets across a number of companies in the name of portfolio diversification.
