Aperio Group has named founding partner Patrick Geddes chief executive officer. He previously served as chief investment officer. Ran Leshem, current head of portfolio management, has been promoted to chief investment officer. 

In addition to their new roles, Geddes will continue as chief tax economist and Leshem will continue to oversee Aperio's trading and operations team.

Prior to co-founding Aperio Group, Geddes served as the chief financial officer of Morningstar. He also served on the company's executive committee and as director of quantitative research.

Prior to joining Aperio in 2006, Leshem was manager of operating strategy at the Gap Inc., where he managed the development of a store-level forecasting system to predict sales based on historical data.

Based in Sausalito, Calif., the Aperio Group is an investment management firm that designs and manages custom portfolios tailored to a client's specific tax situation, values or desired economic exposure.
