Vanguard has added Arrowpoint Partners to the advisory team of its $12.4 billion Explorer Fund, the firm announced today.

Chad Meade and Brian Schaub, partners at Denver-based Arrowpoint, will manage four percent of the fund. The two previously worked at Janus Capital Group managing the Triton Fund and the Venture Fund before joining Arrowpoint last year.

“Adding Arrowpoint gives investors in the Explorer Fund access to eight complementary, institutional-quality investors at a low cost,” Bill McNabb, Vanguard’s CEO, said in a press release. “Vanguard believes this multi-manager approach can deliver top performance while reducing overall risk.”

A small portion of the fund's assets previously managed by other advisors has been allocated to Arrowpoint. The approximate allocation of manager assets is now: Wellington Management Company, 32 percent; Kalmar Investment Advisers, 23 percent; Granahan Investment Management, 17 percent; Century Capital Management, seven percent; Chartwell Investment Partners, seven percent; Stephens Investment Management Group, six percent; Vanguard Equity Investment Group, four percent; and Arrowpoint, four percent.
