Credit Suisse Asset Management has announced a new product for investors looking for exposure to the commodities markets.
The firm has launched the Credit Suisse Commodity Return Strategy Fund,
which offers investors commodities exposure through commodity swap
agreements on the Dow Jones-AIG Commodity Index.
The fund will invest in commodity-linked derivative instruments and a
portfolio of short-maturity fixed-income securities with the objective
of tracking the Dow Jones-AIG index, which consists of 19 commodities.
"Our approach to this fund is straightforward and unique: We seek to
replicate the Dow Jones-AIG index through aggregate purchase of swap
agreements, and we manage the cash using a low-risk approach that is
focused on the preservation of principal and on maintaining liquidity,"
says Nelson Louie, one of the fund's portfolio managers.
