The Internal Revenue Service has launched a
redesigned Web site that it says makes it easier to navigate and search for
tax preparation tools.
The Web site is among the most heavily trafficked
sites on the Internet during the tax season, according to the IRS, with
more than 176 million visits and 1.2 billion page views in fiscal 2005.
The Web site is located at www.irs.gov.
"These changes should make it even easier to
navigate our site and get taxpayers the information they need to file
and pay their taxes," says IRS Commissioner Mark W. Everson.
Besides a new look, the Web site has more navigation buttons that are
designed to users to the information they need more quickly, according
to the IRS.
The site's search features are also more advanced than those of the previous site, the IRS says.
Among the other additions is a section devoted to
the most requested forms and publications, a section that features the
most commonly used online tools and a section devoted to news and
information, such as an explanation of tax relief for hurricane victims.
