Raymond James Financial has named a new sales director for its independent contractor division, the company announced.

   James A. Fulp has been named executive vice president, director of sales, for the firm's Independent Contractor Division, replacing C. Kent Christian, who joined Raymond James in 2003.
   Fulp will be responsible for sales supervision and practice management activities for the organization's 2,900 independent financial advisors nationwide, according to the company.
   Fulp joined Raymond James in 1990. He currently serves as president of the company's Financial Institutions Division and as senior vice president of Raymond James & Associates, managing the Correspondent Services Division. He will retain those responsibilities, according to Raymond James.
   Raymond James Financial has more than 4,800 financial advisors serving 1.3 million accounts throughout the United States, Canada and overseas. Total client assets are about $154 billion.
