The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. on Wednesday named Marilyn Mohrman-Gillis its managing director of public policy, making her the organization's point person on advocacy issues with Congress and financial regulators. She joins the Washington, D.C.-based organization on August 18.

Mohrman-Gillis résumé includes 30 years advocacy experience in Washington that includes senior positions at the Federal Communications Commission, the Association of Public Television Stations and the National League of Cities. Her work covered a range of issues from tax and finance policies to broadcast and cable rules.

Before joining the CFP Board, she was an independent consultant working with non-profit organizations on public policy and governance issues. She began her career as a litigator with the Washington law office of Steptoe & Johnson.
