Mike Greene, senior vice president of financial planning and advisor business development at Ameriprise Financial, has been named chairman of the Board of Directors for the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc., CFP Board announced Monday.

Greene has served on the board of directors for CFP Board since 2012 and was chairman-elect in 2015.

“Last year, CFP Board celebrated its thirtieth year of certifying highly trained financial advisors who are held to standards of excellence, competency and ethics in providing personal financial planning services,” says Greene. “I look forward to progressing the mission of CFP Board by working with the team as we focus on strengthening the certification and increasing its awareness among financial professionals and consumers.”

CFP Board has an ongoing advertising campaign to raise public awareness about what CFP professionals have to offer and the need for financial planning.
