Mary Kay Svedberg has been named director of education for the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, the CFP Board announced Wednesday.

Svedberg will oversee the implementation of the education requirements for CFP certification. She also will guide the review process for prospective programs, and oversee the CFP Board’s Registered Programs Conference, which offers financial planning faculty and program directors an annual forum for sharing best practices and key research.

Graduates of the CFP Board Registered Programs satisfy the education course work requirement for CFP certification and are eligible to take the CFP certification exam. There are more than 300 programs at 170 colleges or universities offering a financial planning curriculum registered with the CFP Board.

Svedberg has more than 20 years of experience in higher education as a faculty member and administrator. She holds a Ph.D. from Virginia Tech.
