Alan Goldfarb, the director of wealth advisory services at Weaver Wealth Management in Dallas, was announced Tuesday as the new chair of the board of directors chair at the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc.

Goldfarb received his certified financial planner designation in 1978 and played a key role in the CFP Board's creation more than 25 years ago. He previously served as chair of the Board of Professional Review (now Disciplinary and Ethics Commission), and also served on the Ethics Task Force that developed the most recent version of CFP Board's Standards of Professional Conduct.

According to a press release, Goldfarb developed the University of Dallas Graduate School of Management's curriculum and structure for what's described as the nation's first personal MBA program for the personal financial planning profession to be registered with CFP Board.

He also has served as the director of the financial services MBA Program at the University Of Dallas Graduate School Of Management, and as executive director for the Southwest Institute for Personal Financial Education.

Goldfarb has made several "top advisor" lists at various financial publications during his 30-year career.
