The Boston-based financial services research firm has recognized several companies for their superior customer service in 2013.

AXA Equitable Equi-Vest, Genworth, New York Life Insurance TPD Services, New York Life Insurance Variable Products Service Center, Pacific Life, Prudential Financial and SunAmerica Retirement Income Solutions are this year's recipients of the annual award.

Important service attributes that differentiate the winning firms from the industry at large include consistently delivering service at a superior level and adding value to that service that goes beyond the initial request. This was found in more than 80 percent of the winning firms' service experiences, compared with the industry average of 65 percent.

The award is based on systematic testing of customer service throughout the year. Companies that exceed a variety of industry benchmarks after one year earn the award.
