Asked about how he would invest, Fuss recommended overweighting equities, but not dramatically, and "going to church often." The lone sector of the fixed-income market he really likes are individual municipal bonds. It's a unique market with a built-in structure that creates a steep yield curve.

Fuss also expressed fears about instability in Asia as China increasingly throws it weight around. That could force the U.S. to increase its defense spending, and a less stable global economy could cut the legs out from under U.S. corporate earnings.

Growing economic interdependence should encourage nations to settle their disputes peacefully, but things can and do go wrong after prolonged periods of global economic expansion.
