Dan Skiles has been named president of Shareholders Service Group (SSG), a San Diego-based brokerage and custodial firm for independent registered investment advisors, SSG announced Wednesday.

SSG provides support, technology and custodial services for 1,200 RIAs ranging in size from firms with a few million in assets under management to those with $100 million or more in AUM.

“RIAs can use just our core platform or we can provide performance reporting, financial planning, marketing services, compliance and more,” Skiles says. “Whatever they need to be successful independent advisors, we think we can provide with exceptional service.”

The management team at SSG has worked together for the past decade. The managers and employees own the privately held company.

“Over the past decade, SSG has grown steadily and expanded its business volumes and staffing in all areas, and at the same time we have maintained our high-quality, personalized service for independent investment advisors and their clients,” says Peter Mangan, founder, chairman and CEO.

SSG, founded in 2002, works exclusively with RIAs and provides brokerage and back-office service and support and access to a full suite of investment vehicles. SSG provides training and support for its technology platforms.

“We will continue to focus on the commitment we have made to support independent RIAs,” says Skiles, who previously served as executive vice president.
