Are you or your clients planning a last-minute getaway this Labor Day weekend? You may want to avoid these destinations if room rates are a factor in where you will go.

A survey by CheapHotels.org found Seattle will have most expensive room rates this weekend, followed by Virginia Beach, Va.; Atlantic City, N.J.; Philadelphia; and Boston. Seattle was the most expensive because an arts and music event, the Bumbershoot Festival, is being held this weekend and typically brings around 100,000 visitors to the city each year. As a result of its popularity, hotel rates are around 65% higher than normal, according to the survey.

The survey compared hotel rates for 20 popular U.S. destinations for the Labor Day weekend -- August 31 to September 3. The following list shows the 10 most expensive destinations. The prices shown are based on the daily rate for each accommodation's cheapest available double room (minimum 3-star hotel) for the time period of August 31 through September 3.
