Elissa Buie, CEO of Yeske Buie wealth management firm in Vienna, Va., and San Francisco, has been named chair of the Foundation for Financial Planning.

The foundation makes grants to organizations that create access to financial planning, particularly for military personnel and their families. It also focuses on educational programs in high schools and youth organizations, and on delivering financial planning advice in times of crisis or disaster. The foundation is a not-for-profit charitable organization headquartered in Tucker, Ga.

Buie, a CFP certificant, is a dean of the Financial Planning Association Residency Program and a former chairwoman of the association. She is an adjunct professor at Golden Gate University’s financial planning program. Buie has been named a top advisor by Worth and Washingtonian magazines and by Bloomberg Wealth Manager.

“I have been a long-time supporter of the foundation, which helps connect advisors with the underserved population that does not have access to financial planning," Buie said. “My goal is to have every financial planner contribute in some way to the foundation: either through pro bono work or financial contributions. I think that would support the growth of our profession.”
