Efforts are being made in many states and in Congress to encourage financial professionals to report suspected elder exploitation. Many financial advisors now are afraid to take action because of potential litigation against them for not carrying out a client’s wishes.
“It’s like walking a tight rope to decide how to handle these issues for a financial advisors,” he said.
