Six financial advisors were honored by The Invest in Others Charitable Foundation for their leadership and commitment to making a positive impact in their communities.

The foundation is a public charity that supports the philanthropic and volunteer efforts of financial advisors in their local communities. It announced its sixth annual Community Leadership Awards on Thursday.

The awards were in five categories:

Volunteer of the Year: William M. Hull, principal at The Capital Group LLC, Overland Park, Kan. (affiliated with Questar Capital), for his work with the Heartstrings Community Foundation.

Community Service: Karen C. Altfest, executive vice president at Altfest Personal Wealth Management, New York, N.Y. (affiliated with Schwab and TD Ameritrade Institutional), for her work with Yorkville Common Pantry.

Global Community Impact: Scott Sweat, financial advisor at Alpha Omega Group Wealth Management, Great Falls, Va. (affiliated with Multi-Financial), for his work with David's Hope International.

Mentoring Excellence: David Plyler, chief executive at the Gleneagles Group, Atlanta (affiliated with BNY Mellon), for his work with the Atlanta Youth Academy.

Volunteer Team: Erica Coogan and Kathryn Garrison, partner and financial advisor, respectively, at Moss Adams Wealth Advisors LLC, Seattle (affiliated with Moss Adams Securities & Insurance LLC),  for their work with the Boys & Girls Clubs of King County - InfluenceHer Program.

The Invest in Others Charitable Foundation presented a donation of $20,000 to each category honoree's charity and a $5,000 donation to all category finalists' charities.
