Keith Michael Rogers, a Huntsville, Ala., investment advisor to a former star Alabama Crimson Tide football player, pled guilty to one count of defrauding clients, the Alabama Securities Commission announced Wednesday.

Rogers is a former advisor to former NFL running back Kenneth Darby, who played for the St. Louis Rams and Atlanta Falcons. Darby was a star player for the University of Alabama, according to several Alabama news sources. Rogers was charged with using more than $2.5 million in clients’ funds for his personal expenses and to create a Ponzi scheme.

The state of Alabama has recommended that Rogers receive a 10-year prison sentence when he is sentenced April 18.

Darby and his family sued Rogers for allegedly converting $2.4 million of their money to his own use.
