The Financial Planning Association has created a Volunteer Engagement Initiative to encourage its members to offer their services through a number of volunteer programs, the FPA announced at its annual conference in Seattle in September.

The initiative is designed to engage more members in organizational leadership roles. It was created to enable the organization to have a greater impact on the profession through its programs that are carried out by volunteers, the FPA says.

The initiative will help FPA increase awareness among its members of volunteer opportunities within the organization, provide support for volunteers, provide appropriate recognition and improve tracking of volunteers’ work.

“While we have streamlined the organization and empowered the staff to take more responsibility in areas of their expertise, the role of volunteers remains an invaluable cornerstone to FPA’s success now and in the future,” says Lauren M. Schadle, FPA executive director and CEO. “The Volunteer Engagement Initiative will provide a means for members to serve in volunteer opportunities that offer a greater range of flexibility to fit their schedules, interests and passions.”

A Volunteer Engagement Center that will be accessible through the FPA Web site (www.OneFPA.org) will act as a job board where members can search for volunteer opportunities and apply for positions.
