Fred Alger Management Inc., an asset management firm based in New York that has $16 billion in assets under management, has hired three people with international management backgrounds who were formerly with Allianz Global Investors to continue its international expansion, the firm announced Tuesday.

The team will help continue Alger’s expansion into the international equity market and complement its nearly 30-member U.S. investment team, says Dan Chung, CEO and chief investment officer for Alger.

As part of the new team, Pedro Marcal has 24 years of investment experience and was most recently an international portfolio manager of EAFE Core Growth/Pacific Rim securities at Allianz. He focused on international equities, including developed and emerging markets.

Ajoy Reddi has 16 years of experience and was most recently an international analyst at Allianz, where he focused on European equities.

Warren Zhang, CFA, has 17 years of experience and was most recently vice president and analyst at Allianz, where he focused on Asian equities.

Alger now has a seven-member international team.
