A new survey has identified the 10 states where high-income residents spend the smallest percentage of their earnings on state sales and excise, property and income taxes.

Using data from the Institute on Taxation & Economic Policy’s 2015 report, WalletHub generated estimates of the tax burden on residents at three income levels —low $25,000, medium $50,000 and high $150,000 — in each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia.

The research firm found that high-income residents in the following 10 states, listed in descending order, spend the least percentage of their earnings on state taxes.
