Timothy Murphy was elected president and chief executive officer at Investors Capital Holdings, the company announced Friday. Based in Lynnfield, Mass., Investors Capital is the parent company of Investors Capital Corp., a broker-dealer and investment advisory firm with 687 producing reps.

Murphy, who has held a variety of positions at Investors Capital since he joined the company in 1995, succeeds Theodore CharlesĀ at both positions. Charles will remain the company chairman.

Prior to joining Investors Capital, Murphy was the compliance officer at Baybanks Brokerage and a vice president at the brokerage firm G.R. Stuart & Co.
