Fidelity Investments on Monday named Judy Marlinski as president of Fidelity Institutional Asset Management, a distribution and client service organization focused on meeting the investment needs of financial advisors, institutional investors and consultants.

Marlinski, who currently leads Fidelity’s Investment Product Solutions & Innovation group, will report to Jeffrey Lagarce, president of Fidelity Institutional. She succeeds Scott Couto, who will leave Fidelity at the end of June.

Marlinski was president of Fidelity International Japan from 2011 to 2016, a period that saw assets under management in that business grow 57 percent from $37 billion to $58 billion.

Marlinski’s career at Fidelity International began in 2003, when she moved to Japan for the role of chief operating officer of investment management. In 2006, she became head of product management, where she led Fidelity to become the largest foreign retail asset manager in Japan. She joined Fidelity in 1986.
