The S&P 500 is up 13 percent after a disastrous performance in August and many companies had October increases in stock prices that far outpaced that level.

S&P released the list of S&P 500 companies that had the largest share price increases from September 30 to October 30. Some well-known names appear near the top of the list, but industries across the board, from airlines, to oil and energy, to logistics, are represented.

Following are the top 20 performers for the month of October in ascending order. Also included are the company ticker symbol, the closing price at the end of September, the closing price at the end of October and the percent increase.
