Merrill Lynch is expanding its Merrill Edge online workforce by adding 100 financial advisors each to its Jacksonville, Fla., and Chandler, Ariz., hubs.

Jacksonville currently houses 419 Merrill Edge financial professionals while Chandler has 197.

The company says it has no plans to significantly add financial advisors at its other sites.

Launched in 2010, Merrill Edge is aimed at servicing clients with $50,000 to $250,000 in investible assets. Merrill’s traditional advisory service is aimed at retail clients above that upper limit.

Merrill Lynch spokesperson Kristen Georgian said the online program chose Chandler and Jacksonville for expansion in part because of the high level of talent at local colleges and universities.

But she said the company does not have training programs in conjunction with the higher ed centers in those regions.
