The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards announced yesterday that Charles A. Moran has been elected the board's chair-elect for 2010.

Moran will take over as chair-elect on January 1, 2010, when the current chair-elect, Robert Glovsky, steps into his duties as chairman.

That appointment means Moran will serve as chairman on January 1, 2011.

Moran was elected to the position at the board's July 16-17 meeting, according to the CFP Board.

Moran is on the CFP board of directors and professor of business administration at the State University of New York at Cobleskill. He also teaches corporate governance and other subjects at the Harvard University Summer Program and New York University's School of Continuing and Professional Studies. He began his service on the board of directors in 2008.

His professional career in financial services spans 40 years he has testified over 20 times before Senate and House committees on benefits and investment issues, according to the CFP Board.
