Morningstar's head of fund research will explain the company's new system for rating funds to attendees at the Fiduciary Gatekeeper Research Manager Summit, being produced by Financial Advisor and Private Wealth magazines.

Summit attendees will be among the first individuals to be walked through the MorningstarĀ® Analyst RatingTM for Funds and Morningstar Global Fund Research Reports. The ratings are a forward-looking measure based on Morningstar analysts' research and will be launched later this year.

"Morningstar has been providing independent, analyst-driven fund research for 25 years, but we've now codified the various evaluation methods used by our team of more than 90 analysts around the world to create one harmonized global rating system. The rating is designed to supplement the fund due diligence process for investors and advisors and identify funds worth investing in over the long term," said Don Phillips, president of fund research at Morningstar, in announcing the new ratings.

Morningstar's Karen Dolan, CFA, director of fund analysis, will walk Fiduciary Gatekeeper Research Manager Summit attendees through the new analyst rating system, designed to supplement Morningstar star ratings. The Summit will be held in Boston Sept. 26-28 at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel and Towers and will provide research professionals the chance to meet in small settings with leading investment managers from around the country.

"We expect the summit to attract up to 200 leading fiduciaries for two days of presentations focused on the investment capabilities and insights of up to 24 select investment management firms, kicked off by a special general session presentation by Morningstar unveiling their new analyst-driven fund ratings. The goal of the summit is to streamline the traditional due diligence path by enhancing access, insight and interaction in a collegial educational setting and empower decision makers," said David Smith, group publisher of Charter Financial Publishing Network (CFPN), which publishes both Financial Advisor and Private Wealth, as well as other publications.

In conjunction with their inaugural Fiduciary Gatekeeper Research Manager Summit, Financial Advisor and Private Wealth are soliciting nominations for the inaugural Due Diligence/Research Manager All Star Team.
