Four new members of the board of directors of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. were elected at the Fall 2011 meeting.

John R. Connell, Michael R. Green, Eva Kampits and G. Joseph Votava Jr. will start their new terms on Jan. 1.

Connell has 36 years of experience specializing in business valuations, tax, financial planning and financially-oriented litigation support matters.

Connell is a principal with the accounting firm Causey Demgen & Moore Inc. in Denver. He was previously a partner at Deloitte serving as national director of financial planning.

Green is the senior vice president responsible for the financial planning business at Ameriprise Financial Services in Minneapolis. He previously worked at McKinsey & Company.

Kampits is a director at the New England Association of Schools & Colleges, the first regional accrediting association, which serves the New England region. She is the recipient of Harvard's Albert H. Gordon '23 Award and the Joseph R. Hamlen '04 Award.

Votava serves as the chief executive officer for Seneca Financial Advisors LLC. He has more than 30 years' experience in financial planning and focuses on taxes, investments, employee benefits and estate planning. He was a partner at Nixon Peabody LLP, an international law firm, where he served corporate executives and closely held businesses.

The board of directors has 14 voting members and one nonvoting member. Leaving the board are Charles A. Moran, CFP, who served as chairman this year, Charles Robinson, CFP, and Terry Lister.
