Paragon Financial Services in Sacramento, Calif., is becoming an independent affiliate of Commonwealth Financial Network, the companies announced.

Founded by managing partner Bryan Chew, Paragon provides wealth management to high-net-worth individuals and families in California and surrounding states. Chew is a professor at U.C. Davis Extension in the Personal Financial Planning program. Formerly affiliated with LPL Financial, Paragon Financial Services oversees more than $100 million in client assets.

Joining Chew in the transition are advisors Michel Takayama, Anita Fong-Chao, Eugene Hsu and Daryl Wong.

Commonwealth is the nation's largest, privately held independent broker-dealer with headquarters in Waltham, Mass., and San Diego.

"We are excited to enter the next phase of business development, and Commonwealth is the best possible partner to help us achieve our growth goals," said Chew. Commonwealth has a "technology program that is truly integrated. This translates to better control of the business, better services to our clients, and decreased expenses."
