CBIS is also getting more active in the fight against pornography. It initiated a petition, signed by 200 investors and sent to five major cable companies in December, asking them to stop distributing pornography. Tanner has also raised the issue of in-room adult films with hotels.

CBIS recently signed onto the Conflict Risk Network's (CRN) letter which urges companies to stop payment to the Libyan government and support a "Libya Recovery Fund" which could help avoid economic harm to civilians.

CBIS is working on a number of governance issues including declassification of boards and say-on-pay. "A lot of these things are basic shareholder rights that make a company strong," says Tanner. She's also working with pharmaceutical companies on getting developing nations better access to medicine.
