Kyle Hunter, a vice president of investments and senior financial advisor with Umpqua Investments in Portland, Ore., asks almost all new clients if there are any investments they are philosophically opposed to owning. "It's an interesting conversation starter," he says. "It generally leads to an SRI discussion but, if not, that's OK. I feel I'm doing my job."

Hunter, who has been an advisor for over 10 years, has used EarthFolio and individual SRI mutual funds and ETFs with clients. He says at least 30% of his clients' investments have some socially responsible component.
