Many people make a New Year’s resolution to improve their financial situation, which can be measured, in part, by their credit scores. But in some places, residents already are doing pretty well on that score.

WalletHub, a personal financial information resource for consumers, ranked 2,570 U.S. cities to see where people have the best and worst credit scores. It turns out cities with large populations of retired residents tend to do well.

“Your credit score is more than just a three-digit number: It’s a numerical representation of your financial habits. And it tends to speak volumes, most important of which is how well you manage your debts,” says the WalletHub report.
