Robert Arnott, the chairman and founder of Research Affiliates. has been recognized for his achievements in the indexing industry.

Arnott is this year's William F. Sharpe Indexing Lifetime Achievement Award, which recognizes the most accomplished innovators and practitioners in the field of indexing. It was presented at the IMN's global indexing and ETFs conference in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Over his 30-year career, Arnott has pioneered several portfolio strategies, including tactical asset allocation, global tactical asset allocation, tax-advantaged equity management and fundamental indexing, according to IMN.

In 2002, he established Research Affiliates, a research-intensive asset management firm. Prior to founding the firm, Arnott served as chairman of First Quadrant LP and also served as global equity strategist at Salomon Brothers.  In addition, he was the founding president and CEO of TSA Capital Management and a vice president at The Boston Company.

Arnott has been a contributor to several financial journals and books. He has published more than 100 articles in journals such as the Journal of Portfolio Management, the Harvard Business Review, and the Financial Analysts Journal, where he also served as editor-in-chief from 2002 through 2006.
