Susan John, president of Financial Focus Inc., a financial planning firm in Wolfeboro, N.H., has been elected 2018 chair-elect of the board of directors for the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc., the board announced Thursday.

Financial Focus provides financial planning services to northern New England professionals, retirees and families. John, the firm’s founder, has served on the board of directors at the CFP Board since 2016.

She also served two terms on the national board of directors for the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors, and was chairwoman from 2010 to 2012.

At NAPFA, she helped form the Financial Planning Coalition, a collaboration among the three major financial planning organizations in the United States, which also includes the Financial Planning Association and CFP Board.

She currently serves as a director and vice president at the Central New Hampshire Visiting Nurse Association as well as on the advisory boards of the Wright Museum of World War II and the Eastern Lakes Housing Coalition.
  
Current Chair-elect Richard Salmen will serve as chair of the board of directors in 2018; John will become chair in 2019. As chair-elect, she will lead the development of the organization’s policies.
