A report from As You Sow analyzing the pay packages of 100 corporate CEOs found that compensation has grown nearly 1000 percent over the past four decades.

The organization, which advocates for corporate responsibility, found the largest component of executive compensation has been provided by “performance pay” incentives. However, the analysis found virtually no correlation between CEO pay and corporate performance.

"The most overpaid CEOs represent an extraordinary misallocation of assets," the organization wrote in its report. "Regression analysis showed each of the top nine most overpaid had compensation at least $20 million more than if their pay had been appropriately aligned with performance.."

Basing its findings on fiscal year 2013 data, the report found the following 10 CEOs were the most overpaid when factors such as corporate performance under their leadership were considered.
