The Colony Group has acquired Long Wharf Investors, a Boston-based independent RIA with about $200 million in client assets, Focus Financial Partners announced today.

The merger brings Colony Group's assets under management to about $3.75 billion,

Rod Macdonald and John Keller, principals and co-founders of Long Wharf Investors, will join the Colony team, which is also based in Boston, according to Focus Financial.

Established in 1995, Long Wharf Investors provides wealth and investment management services to more than 125 high-net-worth clients. Macdonald was previously a business and commercial real estate attorney in Boston for over 20 years. He also served for 15 years as chairman of an advisory committee involved in creating a master plan for the City of Boston Waterfront, which is currently undergoing development.

Keller has more than 25 years of financial industry experience. He previously worked at Fleet Investment Advisors and Bank of New England in strategy and policy committee roles, as director of research and as manager of the Yankee Growth Fund.

Colony joined Focus Financial Partners, a national partnership of independent wealth managers, in October 2011. Since then, it has also acquired Mintz Levin Financial Advisors in Boston in 2012 and Prosper Advisors in New York in 2013.
