The Insured Retirement Institute (IRI) has elected John Carter as the new chairman of its board of directors. Carter is president and chief operating officer of Nationwide Retirement Plans.

The IRI has also elected the following eight new board members: William Benjamin, CEO of U.S. Bancorp Investments and U.S. Bancorp Insurance Services; Mitchell Caplan, CEO of Jefferson National Financial; Caroline O’Connell, chief strategy officer and managing director of Pershing LLC; Michael Perry, managing director and head of wealth management advice and platforms at UBS Distribution; Michael Saliba, managing director of strategic alliances group at BlackRock; Thomas Swank, president and CEO of individual savings and retirement at Transamerica; Edward Van Dolsen, EVP and president of retirement and individual financial services at TIAA-CREF; and Marc Vosen, CEO of Key Investment Services.

The Insured Retirement Institute is a not-for-profit organization that provides a forum for communication and education to its members. IRI members are the major insurers, asset managers, broker-dealers/distributors, and 150,000 financial professionals.
