TD Ameritrade Holdings Corporation has appointed former TIAA-CREF executive Marvin W. Adams as the company's new chief operating officer, effective in April.

In his new role, Adams will lead all information technology and operations functions, including systems development, data centers and infrastructure, networks, project management and process improvement, and brokerage clearing and operations.

Most recently, Adams served as the executive vice president of shared services for TIAA-CREF, overseeing technology and leading information technology strategy and policy. Adams has more than 30 years of operational and technology experience, and has served in financial leadership positions with several other organizations, including Fidelity Investments, Citigroup, Bank One Corporation, Ford Motor Company and Xerox. He holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Michigan State University.
