G. Joseph Votava Jr. has been elected 2015 chair-elect of the board of directors of the CFP Board of Standards Inc., the CFP Board announced Wednesday.

Votava is the CEO of Seneca Financial Advisors LLC, a personal financial planning firm with offices in Rochester, N.Y., and Washington, D.C. Previously he was a partner serving corporate executives and closely held businesses at the law firm Nixon Peabody LLP. During his time there, Votava was the founding president of the law firm’s subsidiary, Nixon Peabody Financial Advisors LLC.

“Between the launch of the latest phase of the public awareness campaign and the women’s initiative to increase the ranks of female CFP professionals, CFP Board has taken on some exciting initiatives to foster the growth and advancement of our profession,” said Votava.
