Washington Wealth Management of Middleburg, Va., has named a 24-year financial industry veteran as president.

John Simmons has experience establishing new branches and leading regional expansion for firm's such as Prudential, Wachovia, Merrill Lynch and most recently Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, according to the firm.

Simmons will be based in California, giving the firm a West Coast presence for the first time, according to the firm.

"He is going to play a critical role in the firm's expansion and his deep knowledge and experience will be a great resource for guiding our advisors on a day-to-day basis," said Tony Sirianni, CEO and founder of Washington Wealth Management.

Washington Wealth Management was launched in December as an employee-owned advisory firm designed to give advisors an alternative to the traditional wirehouse model.
