Bankers Life Center For A Secure Retirement looked at healthfulness and affordability of 60 major United States cities to see which would be the all-around best for middle-class retirees.

Only one warm, coastal city made the cut for the top 10. Instead, several cities in colder climes are favorably rated because they were senior-friendly and affordable.

In naming America’s Best Cities for a Healthy (and More Affordable) Retirement, the center considered health care, affordability, the size of the current senior population, wellness, activities, environment (including the number of sunny days), transportation and crime.

Following are the winning top 10 cities for a healthy and affordable retirement in reverse order.
