General Session Dr. Robert A. Eisenbeis, Cumberland Advisors Now That Tapering Is Done Then What? The end of tapering focuses market and FOMC attention on how the economy may or may not be closing in on its employment and inflation objectives. At that point, the FOMC will begin thinking about how soon, thereafter, to begin the process of policy normalization. How will that proceed? What can we infer about how the process might unfold? Despite Chair Yellen's assertions that the so-called dot chart should not be relied upon, the case can be made that it provides important clues about the policy normalization process.
