JOANNE M. HILL, Ph.D. Head of Institutional Investment Strategy ProShares
Joanne Hill joined ProShares in 2009 where she currently serves as the head of institutional investment strategy. Hill’s responsibilities include portfolio strategy, product research and product education for institutional clients as well as financial advisors. Prior to joining ProShares, she spent 17 years at Goldman Sachs, where she was a managing director leading global equity index and derivatives research focusing on institutional strategies and implementation tools. She also served as a relationship manager in Goldman’s Pensions, Endowments and Foundations Group.
A recognized leader in the financial industry, Hill was recently named one of the ten inaugural recipients of the Top Women in Asset Management Awards by Money Management Executive, and she is co-president of Women in ETFs. She is also a recipient of the William F. Sharpe Indexing Lifetime Achievement Award. She has published extensively on quantitative investment topics, index products and derivatives, and she serves on the board and heads the research committee for the “Q” Group. She is currently on the editorial board of the Journal of Alternative Investing, Journal of Indexes, Journal of Derivatives, and Journal of Index Investing and has served as an editor for the Financial Analysts Journal and Journal of Portfolio Management. She is also on the investment board of the Montgomery County Schools Pension System.
Prior to coming to Wall Street, she was an associate professor of finance at the University of Massachusetts (Amherst) and worked as an analyst at the Federal Reserve Board. She received a Ph.D. in finance and an M.B.A. from Syracuse University, a Master’s degree in international affairs from George Washington University, and an undergraduate degree in international service from American University.
