A Washington, D.C.-based financial advisor will pay more than $2 million and serve nearly 3 years in prison after pleading guilty to stealing from clients such as heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson and basketball stars Glen Rice and Dikimbe Mutombo.

Brian Ourand, a former executive and advisor with SFX Financial Advisory Management Enterprises, a subsidiary of Live Nation Entertainment, was sentenced earlier this month to 33 years in prison and to pay more than $1 million in restitution and an additional $1 million in penalties in U.S. District Court in Washington.

Last year, Ourand was found guilty in parallel civil litigation filed by the SEC, where he was ordered to pay another $1 million in disgorgement, civil penalties and interest.

Ourand allegedly wrote and signed checks to himself for cash, also making bogus wire transfers in the names of his sports star clients.

In February, Ourand pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud, admitting that he took nearly $250,000 from Tyson and over $500,000 in additional money from Mutombo, Rice, and other athletes.

Ourand also admitted that he used the athlete’s funds for gambling junkets, golf fees, shopping, dental work, hotel stays, tanning salon visits and other personal expenses.
