Ark Wealth Management, a financial advisory practice based in Tacoma, Wash., has joined the Ameriprise Financial independent channel, the companies said in a news release.

Led by financial advisors Chris McCulloch and Wes Niblack, Ark was formerly with Fort Worth, Tex.-based First Command Financial Planning, where the practice managed $120 million in client assets.

According to Niblack, he and McCulloch, and their team of Malinda Hall, Emily Kleppen and Erin Watlington, were looking for a new partner who would allow them to operate as an independent business.

“While we strongly considered starting our own registered investment advisor (RIA), we decided that structure wasn’t the right fit for us,” Niblack said in the news release.

McCulloch and Niblack are supported locally by Ameriprise Field Vice President George Varones.

Founded in 1894, Ameriprise Financial Inc., is a diversified financial services company and bank holding company incorporated in Delaware and headquartered in Minneapolis.
