Avantax, a hybrid RIA and broker-dealer, announced today that it is being joined by Burbank, Calif.-based Comprehensive Financial Services.
Comprehensive Financial, which manages $230 million in client assets, joins Avantax from the Independent Financial Group. The firm is led by husband-and-wife team Anna and Victor Luke, who oversee an eight-person team.
“The main reason we chose Avantax is their tax focus,” said Victor Luke in released comments. “By teaming up with tax professionals in the Avantax network, our clients can improve tax efficiencies through cohesive relationships with CPAs in a way that gives us confidence and keeps clients satisfied with us as a one-stop shop. We’re excited about having a symbiotic relationship like that.”
Anna Luke, who serves as CEO and president of Comprehensive, added that Avantax was a good cultural fit, as both firms take a close-knit, hands-on approach to client service and team development.
“I feel very fortunate to know Anna and Victor personally, and to welcome them into the Avantax community, because their firm has such a collaborative culture and they care so deeply about protecting clients’ wealth,” said Laurie Stack, vice president of business development at Avantax and head of the Avantax Women’s Advisor Forum, in released comments. “Anna is an incredible businesswoman who literally started with nothing but was so determined to succeed that she grew into a highly successful financial advisor. Anna is a shining example for women everywhere.”
As of June 30, Avantax’s wealth management business collectively oversaw $83.8 billion in client assets.
