The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards and the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors have partnered with the common goal of increasing the financial well-being of the public and progressing the financial planning profession.

As part of this collaboration, new CFP professionals will now receive a one-year membership with NAPFA, and the CFP Board will encourage new CFP professionals to explore the education opportunities and events offered by NAPFA. In turn, NAPFA will encourage member involvement in and the contribution of time and talent to the CFP Board.

The organizations said they plan to work together with the mutual goal of strengthening the competencies of financial services professionals, adding value to the CFP designation and extending the reach of both the NAPFA and CFP Board.

NAPFA is a professional association and membership organization that provides professional support and development for fee-only advisors and those transiting out of commission-based work. The association has a comprehensive continuing education component, networking programs and events.

“We see this as a great way to create a winning experience for everyone involved,” said NAPFA CEO Geoffrey Brown in a press release. “New CFP professionals will have expanded access to education and networking opportunities to help launch their careers, while the center will benefit from increased engagement and support from the many fee-only financial planners who call NAPFA home.”
