The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. on Wednesday launched an online career center to connect job seekers and employers, CFP announced.
The site, originally announced in September, will provide information for those thinking of becoming a financial planner either as a first career or as a career change.
It will walk people through the education needed to become a CFP professional and will allow candidates to post resumes, as well as allowing employers to post job and internship opportunities.
“CFP Board is in a unique position to make meaningful connections between firms and those who are seeking financial planning positions in the financial services industry. The new career center will bridge the gap between those seeking talent and those looking to either enter the profession or further their career,” says CFP Board's CEO Kevin R. Keller. “We hope this career center will become the go-to resource for those looking to join a growing and thriving profession, during college, after graduation and throughout their career.”
With an anticipated 27 percent growth in demand for financial planning professionals and a troubling demographic of more advisors over 70 years of age than under 30, advancement of the profession requires an effective means of connecting the job-seeker with firms in need of high-quality talent, CFP says.
The career center is being launched with Fidelity Institutional as the founding sponsor.
The career center is open to the public and can be accessed through the CFP Board website at www.CFP.net.
