Claudia Cypher Kane, an independent financial advisor with Raymond James Financial Services in Roseville., Calif., has been selected as the 2023 president-elect of the Financial Planning Association, the board of directors announced today.
She is set to become FPA president in 2024, succeeding James Lee, who is now president-elect and will take over as president on January 1.
A financial advisor since 1985, Kane provides financial planning, strategic asset allocation and tax-efficient money management for individuals, fiduciaries and small businesses at Raymond James. She has been in the industry since 1985 and is completing a three-year term on the FPA's board of directors, currently serving as FPA treasurer and volunteer leader of the FPA Finance Committee.
Kane has been a leader in the FPA organization during a “turbulent” time in society, said the FPA's president, Dennis J. Moore, in a statement. “As we embark on our pursuit of the legal recognition of financial planners through title protection, I know Claudia will play a key role in leading this effort.”
Kane was the leader of the FPA of Northern California chapter and FPA of California, a coalition of FPA chapters throughout the state. She has been an active member of the Investments & Wealth Institute, where she served on the board of directors. She also has been involved in exam writing for the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards and for the Investments & Wealth Institute.
The board also announced the election of George Fernández as 2023's FPA treasurer. Fernández has served on the board of directors for two years. He also will serve as the volunteer leader of the FPA Finance Committee. He has more than 22 years in the financial industry and is a business coach and consultant to financial planners in Overland Park, Kan., specializing in helping advisors build successful practices, the FPA board said.
